TENYO Once Upon a Time Little Mermaid 500

FINALLY – the long-awaited Japanese puzzle! I’d probably heard about TENYO since I first started puzzling, but I’d never had the chance to try one. About a year ago, I even tried to figure out how to order one from Japan with a friend’s help, but due to the complex system and the final price, I gave up on the idea. But at last, I got my chance!

📌 Image: The Little Mermaid – and that’s all there is to say! There should be a serenade by now about my love for mermaids.

📌 Box: Pretty sturdy, a slightly smaller-format box. It looks both strong and not overly so. Well, the most important thing is that it’s not a Bits&Pieces thin paper box. 😃

📌 Colors: While there are bright accents, they’re slightly muted, which gives the image a mysterious feel. Still, bright highlights emerge from the muted background.

📌 Pieces: Not so much thick as strong – you can feel that a lot of paper is firmly compressed. I wasn’t afraid to bend or play with the pieces a bit. The surface is glossy but in a slightly muted, non-irritating way.

📌 Cut: The tabs are quite rounded and a bit chunkier. The cut is interesting and helped me a lot in trickier sections – I can’t even remember if I managed to misplace a piece.

📌 Piece Fit: The pieces slot together nicely, resting snugly next to each other. The fit is neither too loose nor too tight – I’m not even sure how to describe it exactly.

📌 Can the puzzle be lifted when complete? No. 😃

📌 Disassembly: Very quick and simple.

I liked it, but it didn’t blow my mind. The puzzle itself is of good quality, but it’s not a miracle. What draws me most are their exclusive Disney images and, of course, the exotic aspect of how hard they are to find. If I came across a beautiful image or a great deal – I definitely wouldn’t resist adding it to my collection.
